Over 300 REALTORS® from across Canada met recently with their Members of Parliament in Ottawa at the Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) Political Action Committee (PAC) Days.
It was announced at CREA PAC Days that the Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) Political Affairs Committee (PAC) was the recipient of the Outstanding PAC Team Award for a Large Association. This national award recognizes and honours volunteer initiatives and enterprises in advancing federal REALTOR® issues.
CREA’s 2015 REALTOR® Political Action issues include indexing the Home Buyers’ Plan to the Consumer Price Index in $2,500 increments, and Support Canadian Workers through Job Relocation which would make the Home Buyers’ Plan available to help Canadians maintain homeownership after relocating more than 40 kilometers from an existing home to secure employment.
“It's a great honour for DRAR to be recognized by its peers from across Canada. Our DRAR Political Action Committee is dedicated to our communities where we live and work. As the past PAC Chair and past President of DRAR, it was a privilege to meet with our elected officials across the Region to advocate on matters that affect REALTORS® and most importantly, our communities” commented Jane Hurst, 2014 PAC Chair and Immediate Past President.
"This award recognizes that DRAR has a long history of advocating for good public policy with our elected officials, thus ensuring that housing continues to play an integral role in our local economy. Congratulations to Jane Hurst and the 2014 Political Action Committee for this achievement” commented Roger Bouma, 2015 PAC Chair.
