Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) would like to extend a warm welcome to Nancy Shaw, DRAR's new Executive Officer. Nancy brings a wealth of experience to the Association in areas such as politics, public relations and executive management.
Born and raised in Durham, Nancy has always maintained a close connection to the community. She is the founding chair of ProAction Cops and Kids Durham, a charity that enables Durham police officers to run programs for at-risk children and youth. She is also the Chair on the foundation board for Parkwood National Historic Estate in Oshawa. Nancy was also an integral part of the steering committee and later a director of the Abilities Centre board where she served as co-chair of the building committee responsible for overseeing construction of the brilliant new facility.
Nancy began her political career by managing Jim Flaherty’s constituency office as the MPP took several cabinet positions in the Ontario government, concluding his provincial career as Ontario’s Finance Minister. Later, she took on the position of Government and Public Relations Officer with Lakeridge Health Corporation. She also served as Executive Assistant to Whitby Mayor, Marcel Brunelle, before returning to work with Jim Flaherty, as his Executive Assistant responsible for the cabinet minister’s constituency office and the office on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
Nancy's connections, experience and knowledge are invaluable assets to the Association, and the Board of Directors, Members and Staff are excited to have Nancy represent DRAR as its new Executive Officer.
