Durham Sign By Law Information:
DRAR received a message from Clarington's Municipal Law Enforcement Division regarding Sign By-Law complaints. Links are below to the sign by laws across Durham, it would be greatly appreciated if this information were shared at your brokerage.

Once again Clarington’s Municipal Law Enforcement Division is in receipt of complaints concerning the placement of realtor signs throughout the Municipality. More specifically the number of ‘off site directional signs’ is getting out of hand.
Pursuant to Clarington’s Sign by-Law# 2009- 123 a “Real Estate Sign” by definition is “a sign located on a property for the purpose of announcing the sale, lease, or rental of such property or building or part of a building located thereon.
In other words, Realtor signs of any size or style (including ‘off-site directional signs’), that are not located on the property in which is being advertised, are prohibited unless a Sign Permit has been issued by Clarington’s Planning Services Department.
Please note that
******All signs found to be in violation of the Sign By-law, are removed and impounded by enforcement staff, with a fee for retrieval by the appropriate agent***
If you would be so kind as to remind all D.R.A.R. members (currently listing properties in the Municipality of Clarington) of the Sign By-law provision above it would be of great assistance in preventing further violations.
Should you have any questions or require additional information please contact Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement, Duncan Anderson at 905-623-3379 Ext. 2110.
