DURHAM REGION - Each spring, REALTORS® from across Canada meet in Ottawa to discuss Political Affairs at one of the largest and most successful industry advocacy events in the country.  The Event, called “PAC Days”, is hosted by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).

REALTOR® PAC Representatives work together to bring light to issues affecting organized real estate and the consumer and meet with their local MPs to discuss these issues openly.

This year, hot topics included indexing the Home Buyers’ Plan to the Consumer Price Index, Helping Homeowners through Life Changes and Stimulating Community Reinvestment by allowing the deferral of previously written-off depreciation (Capital Cost Allowance) on an investment property when owners sell in order to reinvest.

Durham Region Association of REALTORS®utive Officer, Cail Maclean and PAC Chair, Debbie Dawson, visited Durham Region MPs Corneliu Chisu (Pickering/Scarborough East), Chris Alexander (Ajax/Pickering) and Colin Carrie (Oshawa) in their offices in Ottawa, and on Parliament Hill.
